Community Without Conversation

This was one of the most profound experiences of my entire life in Christ. Rather than describe it, I encourage you to go. Savor the silence. Experience community without conversation. Make time in your life to listen to God, in the space silence provides.

  1. […] Previous posts have mentioned Ignatius House Retreat Center. I am increasingly grateful daily for the wisdom of St. Ignatius, on whose Spiritual Exercises most retreats at Ignatius House and elsewhere are based. […]

  2. Thank you! Still hoping to get to Gethsemani and I completely understand eagerness to return. Thanks for being such a faithful follower of very infrequent posts over the past few months!

  3. I am so happy for you to have finally had the experience of meeting our Lord in silence! Now that you have tasted it, you will hunger for more no doubt. I made my first silent retreat at the Abbey of Gethsemani, the Cistercian Order of Strict Observance, in the knobs of Kentucky in 1989. I have been going back regularly since then, looking forward to my retreat like a child looks forward to Christmas. O beata solitudo!
